2013 was a humdinger of a year for me on Photo Stealers. I outed Doug and Jasmine for their plagiarism and then at the end of the year I had the WTF that was the entirety of the Chris Jones mess (note the blog post is missing photos from the backup disaster and I haven’t fixed it all yet), which started 10 years ago today. For many of us that were around then, he’s still one of the most memorable characters from the PS history. Since this time of year always makes me think of him and that whole wild ride I went on, I thought it was apt to start telling that tale here. Grab a drink and some popcorn and get ready.
It all started in December 2013 when I got a submission about a man, Chris Jones of CJ Photography (as he then went by, he’s had a million rebrands since then), who had a pretty substantial following online (~100k) due to a pretty active Facebook Group he ran, classes he offered and his dubious giveaways.
Not only will this story be about the intellectual property theft but claims of convenient theft of property, death threats, a possible fake cancer mess, constantly changing names of business, types of business, no showing, a really bizarre interview with Gary Fong and so much more twists and turns.
Enjoy?
