Beyond the Blog: Chris Jones Part One
2013 was a humdinger of a year for me on Photo Stealers. I outed Doug and Jasmine for their plagiarism and then at the end of the year I had the WTF that was the entirety of the Chris Jones mess (note the blog post is missing photos from the backup disaster and I haven’t fixed it all yet), which started 10 years ago today. For many of us that were around then, he’s still one of the most memorable characters from the PS history. Since this time of year always makes me think of him and that whole wild ride I went on, I thought it was apt to start telling that tale here. Grab a drink and some popcorn and get ready.
Now that we’re all on the same page: ONWARD!
Also yes, if you noticed a “Chris Jones” who commented on my Facebook share of the last post, that is the one and the same. He appears to be working in construction now but as of the time of this writing he hasn’t confirmed if he ever delivered the wedding videos owed from his last (known) venture with wedding photography/videography.
Pretty quickly after my post comments started coming in on the blog and Facebook and it seemed like while yes, Chris did have some dedicated fans, many were already side-eying some of the stuff going on.
Chris pretty quickly posted up his rebuttal against my post, seen below. He admits to doing some compositing but claims that 90% of the work is original.
I also got an email from Chris to Photo Stealers around the same time.
At the time I hoped that he realized he screwed up and would go forward and not infringe on copyrights and all would be well.
